Tree House, a cageless, no-kill cat shelter, is holding its free Lights of Love Open House that includes a lighting ceremony at 6:00 pm which gives people the chance to honor or remember a beloved animal companion or person. For each $10 donation, Tree House will light a holiday light in honor or memory of the designated party.

This fun event will feature delicious vegetarian food, unique holiday merchandise, a bake sale, a book sale, arts & crafts, guided shelter tours, presentations by our veterinarians, consultations with an animal communicator and behaviorist, a silent auction full of fabulous prizes, and live music by Elle Musique and One & Only. Parking for this event is free, suggested $5 or cat or dog food donations gratefully accepted.

Get outside and enjoy a day at Brookfield Zoo! On Sunday, January 25, the Green Valley Dog Drivers will hold dog sled demonstrations. In addition, games such as "Who's Who" and "Hoop Da Husky" will take place on the West Mall. Also, be sure to stop by for some information from Adopt A Husky and Chicago Wilderness.

Zoo admission and admission to Hamill Family Play Zoo will be free on Sunday, January 25.

We have a group at which you can meet other Chihuahuas near you! Join our South Suburban Chihuahua Meetup Group. JOINING IS ABSOLUTELY FREE!! This group is primarily for Chihuahua lovers who want to socialize their Chihuahuas for play and fun -- all shapes, sizes and breeds of Chihuahuas are welcome! We meet in the south suburbs monthly play with other friendly and local Chihuahuas. Especially during those winter months when it is much harder for the little ones to play outside. We also have special meets to discuss behavior issues, socialization and nutrition. While most meets are held locally, exceptions will be to special volunteer events or other dog-friendly outings in Chicagoland.
